MC, M, MS, ML, EMC, ESP, EHP… the codes look like hieroglyphs. Here you decode each one — what era and size it means, and how to read a code like “MC-107”.
The codes, era by era
Standard MonColle figure. Each series using “MC” numbers independently (not the Pokédex).
e.g. MC-073 “Squishy” (Zygarde Core, Dec 2015) in the XY series.
Black/White series figure (5th gen). Prefix “M” + its own number.
e.g. Verified series: 150 numbers + 14 replaced versions = 164 figures.
Small MonColle (~4 cm) of the current line. “S” = small.
e.g. MS-01 = Bulbasaur/Pikachu (2019); MS-20 = Gyarados (it is not an EX figure).
Large MonColle (~10 cm) of the current line. “L” = large.
e.g. ML-31 = Shiny Black Rayquaza (2023); ML-27 was reused (Origin Dialga → White Complete Zygarde).
Figures of the “Moncolle EX” era. The leading E = EX; the rest is the size.
e.g. EHP-07 = Snorlax (2016); ESP-06 = Blastoise; ESP-13 = Torracat (2017) and Dragonite (2019).
📏 The suffix tells you the size
MonColle is sold in several sizes and the code gives it away: the trailing letters map to the figure's size.
How to read a code, step by step
EHP-07
“E” = Moncolle EX era (Sun/Moon) · “HP” = hyper (~10 cm) · “07” = slot. → Snorlax in cycle 1 (2016). Since EX has two cycles, the same slot could later change occupant.
MC-107
“MC” in the DP series (4th gen) uses its OWN numbering, not the Pokédex · “107” = slot. That slot was Wailord (replaced) then Garchomp (current). Two physical figures, one number.
MS-20
“MS” = small MonColle (~4 cm) of the current line (2019+) · “20” = slot → Gyarados. Useful note: this Gyarados is MS-20, NOT an EX-line figure (a common mix-up).
🗂️ Not every MonColle has letters
The 2nd gen (2004) was numbered straight by Pokédex #: 001–251. The BLACK boxes 001–151 are Kanto Pokémon and the YELLOW ones 152–251 are Johto. There the “code” is just the national number, with no letter prefix.
Special-line codes
- SP · HP6th gen XY: SP-01…49 = super size (~7 cm); HP-01…23 = hyper (~10 cm).
- SP_Mega Evolution: the “SP_” series, confirmed up to SP_21 (Mega Heracross). Note: not the XY size “SP”.
- TERA-xxTerastal: crystallized effect (7 documented figures).
- PRI-xxPrimal: Primal Groudon/Kyogre (a blister version and a boxed version exist).
- 30TH-[región]30th Anniversary: 9 sets of 3 starters per region (Kanto→Paldea), Feb 2026. Officially confirmed.
- OTH-xxOthers: miscellaneous (Toxtricity, Chikorita, Deoxys, Keldeo…).
⚠️ Codes worth double-checking
- • “MB-1…MB-6” (Master Ball, 1st gen): some trackers list it as a sub-series, but the Bulbapedia validation suggests “Master Ball” is an accessory of MC-36, not a series. Treat it as unconfirmed.
- • “PAR-01…PAR-20” (Paradox): does NOT appear to be an official prefix — Paradox figures fall under the ML numbering. The count of 20 is likely inflated. Verify before trusting a PAR- code.
- • Rule of thumb: if you see odd codes like “N-342”, “MT-03”, “CL-03”, “BOX-01” or “SET-01”, be skeptical — they're documented as non-existent codes invented by unreliable sources.

What does “MC” mean on a Tomy Pokémon figure?
“MC” stands for Monster Collection (MonColle), Takara Tomy's official Pokémon figure line since 1997 — the “Tomy” brand of the catalog. It's a line code, and every series that uses it numbers independently: MC-01…96 in the 1st gen (1997–2001), MC-1…150 with its own numbering in the 4th gen (DP), and MC-001…073 (small size) in the 6th gen (XY). In the modern series it is not the Pokédex number.
Are MS and ML the same?
No. Both belong to the current MonColle line (2019–present), but they differ by size: MS = small (~4 cm), ML = large (~10 cm). The documented ranges are MS-01…MS-60 and ML-01…ML-31.
Does the code's number always mean the same Pokémon?
No. In DP, BW and the MS/ML line the number is a rotating “slot”: the same code could hold different Pokémon over time (replaced → current version). Documented examples: MC-107 was Wailord then Garchomp; MS-27 was Pawmi then Pikachu; ESP-13 was Torracat (2017) and Dragonite (2019). That's why each physical figure is a distinct piece and its number does not uniquely identify it.
What does the “E” in EMC, ESP and EHP mean?
It marks the “Moncolle EX” era (7th gen, Sun/Moon, 2016–2019). The E is followed by the size code: EMC small (~4 cm), ESP super (~7 cm), EHP hyper (~10 cm) and EZW for dioramas. Note: this line restarted its numbering in two colliding cycles, so a single code (e.g. ESP-13) points to two figures depending on the year.
