RED GYARADOS (色違い / "Akai Gyarados") — factory red repaint of the classic Gyarados mold, on its blue wave base. It is indeed from the HG/SS era (the red Gyarados from the Lake of Rage), but NO MonColle figure of gold Magikarp exists as a pair for that campaign: the gold+red pair people remember are the Pokémon Center PLUSH toys (Dec 2009). The only MonColle gold Magikarp is the 2005 grail (grail-gold-magikarp). Rarity: it's the "most common" Tomy shiny (Shiny Garden); the community 1st-gen guide marks it HTF (hard to find). 💰 References: a 色違い lot including this Gyarados closed at ¥75,000 (~$500 USD) (Yahoo, 2026); MonColle Gyarados max ¥38,000 (~$253 USD). AMERICAN box in English (red lettering) from 2nd gen MonColle, covering dex 1-251 (vs the Japanese split black 1-151 + yellow 152-251). Documented from the PokéShiny Finds physical collection — the website only documents 4 of these (Golem/Jolteon/Magmar/Snubbull); all 251 are a verified personal contribution.
White stripe box (1-151, different manufacturing run). Recolor documented between manufacturing runs (tomydatabase catalogs it as a "color-tone variant"). The white stripe corresponds to one of those runs — the exact paint difference is a contribution from the physical collection (the site catalogs the existence, not the detail).
