💡 RED GYARADOS (色違い / "Akai Gyarados") — factory red repaint of the classic Gyarados mold, on its blue wave base.
✏️ CORRECTION (Jul 2026): this entry previously stated "lottery was HG/SS — paired with Shiny Magikarp." What is documented is different: MyFigureCollection (item 412903) catalogs it as Monster Collection DP "Shiny ver., Akai Gyarados" — JANUARY 2010, campaign gift for PURCHASING 5 MonColle figures (not a lottery), 38mm, barcode 4904810372189. It is indeed from the HG/SS era (the red Gyarados from the Lake of Rage), but NO MonColle figure of gold Magikarp exists as a pair for that campaign: the gold+red pair people remember are the Pokémon Center PLUSH toys (Dec 2009). The only MonColle gold Magikarp is the 2005 grail (grail-gold-magikarp).
Rarity: it's the "most common" Tomy shiny (Shiny Garden); the community 1st-gen guide marks it HTF (hard to find). 💰 References: a 色違い lot including this Gyarados closed at ¥75,000 (~$500 USD) (Yahoo, 2026); MonColle Gyarados max ¥38,000 (~$253 USD).
